yes, that was the point i was implicitly making, or rather the clearnet domain becoming completely inaccessible, dunno in what kind of situation it would stop being inaccessible over only tor unless all the exit nodes somehow died at the same time

that's actually a valid use case, coolest thing about hidden services to me are their nat/firewall traversal ability, so you can home host things even behind cgnat's, not have to rely on things like dynamic dns or opening ports in your firewall
hosting a game server is a bit suboptimal due to ping but i guess it doesn't really matter for something like minecraft..
