gotta love how every portable electronic device is basically a ticking firebomb just waiting to burn your house down

it's fine just don't stab it or deliberately short it out or stuff pencil leads in the USB slots, i'm sure you don't think about how dangerous it to have natural gas piped into your home or how cars run on explosions

pretty sure these things can still explode on their own even if you do nothing
the most insidious thing about lithium batteries is that this can happen while they're not in use at all and just sitting in some drawer

i've noticed this purely by chance too since the laptop hasn't been used in years, the battery bulged so much it started pushing the keyboard frame/trackpad up

i'm pretty sure housefires would be more common if that were true

who says they aren't?
the reason i'm wary and aware of the risks regarding lithium batteries in the first place is because i've read news articles of houses being burned down by laptop batteries that weren't even being charged most of the time

Lithium batteries in storage discharge themselves over time, a flat battery doesn't explode, they just degrade and become bricks.
