speaking of old things there was this browser game i played almost two decades ago and i tried getting into it but i couldn't remember my password

the game did provide me with a recovery email the account was associated with, and i recognized it as the first email i ever used as a kid, so i tried getting into that, because surprisingly the webmail provider still existed 

after trying multiple passwords, i realized that my account was just straight up deleted, deleting accounts due to inactivity is one thing i suppose, but at the very least you'd expect that creating accounts with emails that were previously used would be disallowed due to obvious security implications but no i was just able to recreate the account and get my recovery email that way

what if someone beat me to it and hijacked my 17 year old account...
