no, changing your computers MAC address is irrelevant here and won't do anything, it's usually your router MAC address you need to change and that's not what the article is about,  just turn everything off and then turn it back on nothing bad can happen and then go from there 

then check if your ip changed here https://ip-api.com/
also that goes without saying but you need to clear all your 4chan cookies otherwise your new ip will just get re-banned for ban evasion

note down your ip and check if it changes, if it doesn't you might need to have to keep things turned off for longer, like overnight

if that fails spoof your router/modem mac address

Just get a new sim card and phonepost on or if you prefer to post on pc just mobile hotspot share your mobile data, worked for me when I tried it (suck it, jannys)

you don't have to turn off your pc, and the order of deleting your cookies is unimportant just as long the cookies that you got banned on are deleted, anyway you don't have to worry about those until you've actually gotten a new IP assigned to you

- go to a site that shows your IP (or just google "what is my ip")
- write the IP down in a text file
- change your router's MAC address
- restart the router
- check to see if the IP has changed

if it's changed, clear your cookies and try posting
